Here are some handy tricks to keep in mind when you decide to ask that all-important question, and make it a day you and your partner will never forget!
Throw them off the scent
We get it, life’s busy! Between juggling work, with kids and family commitments there’s not enough hours in the day! It takes time to be Mr or Mrs Romantic, especially when you want to give your significant other the proposal they deserve. When it comes to asking your partner to marry you, they might be a little suss when they find out you have organised a weekend away or a romantic dinner. To catch them off guard, we suggest organising a few other romantic evenings in Melbourne or the Mornington Peninsula prior to the special day, so when it does come time to pop the question, they are none the wiser and think it’s just another night out!
Share the moment with a few favourites
Getting all dressed up to enjoy an evening with friends is something many of us look forward to. So why not propose when your significant other thinks they are just heading out to another social event. We recommend asking their close friends and family to help you with the surprise. They can organise a special event or dinner and invite your partner along! The last thing they will be thinking when heading out with friends is that your going to be popping the question. They can transport them to your preferred location whilst we are setting up for the special event. Or you can organise to catch up with friends and family for dinner, and beforehand you can take them to the location you wish to propose and ask for their hand in front of all of their nearest and dearest. This is sure to catch them by surprise!
Double the celebration
Is your anniversary approaching? A special birthday on the horizon? What about the day you first met? By planning your proposal to coincide with this already special occasion, you will take some of the suspicion away, as you would have already been going out to dinner to celebrate, and your partner will be all dressed up. Proposing on this special event could be the cherry on top of the perfect day. Plus, you and your soon-to-be fiancé will never ever forget the date!
Search and you will find
Put your partner to work by sending them on a scavenger hunt in a park, your backyard, or even in your house! Whilst there is a chance suspicion will arise from the activity, the adrenaline of the adventure and the momentum from the entire experience will make the end result more than worth their while!
Hijack their plans
Has your partner booked a nice dinner for you two? This could be a good time to hijack the night. Cancel their reservation (discretely and make sure they won’t get a text notification for this) and head in the direction to the said restaurant. Then slowly go off track and let them know you have other plans for the evening. This could be our Seabreeze package located at your favourite beach or the location that you first met. This is sure to catch them off guard and create a great proposal story. Caution: Make sure this is just a casual dinner and not somewhere they have wanted to go for a while as they may get upset if you change their plans!

To propose when a death or tragedy has recently occurred, and your partner is in mourning
DO NOT overthink it, it’s going to be one of the happiest days of both of your lives, and sometimes the events that don’t go to plan make for the best stories
